Child Development Center

Department of Defense (DoD) recognizes the importance of providing families with access to quality, affordable child development programs. Child care is a work force issue that directly impacts the efficiency, readiness, and retention of the total force. All programs are accredited through the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) and are certified by the Department of Defense USDA Child Care Food Program.

Waiting List Priorities

In accordance with DODI 6060.02 and AFI 34-144, the Holloman AFB Child Development and School-Age Programs waiting lists are prioritized

Fees are based on Total Family Income (TFI) and apply to all children who attend the program on a regular basis

For more information on fees, please contact the program directly

Additional Information

OversightsAll DoD CDPs have strict oversight over programs and care options to assess quality and compliance with regulations and policies. Unannounced inspections, which include parent and staff feedback, occur no fewer than four times a year.

Background checks are conducted on all individuals who interact regularly with children and youth, including FCC/CDH providers and those over age 12 living in a home where child care is provided.

DoD CDPs must be certified by an approved external national accrediting body and meet established standards of quality to remain eligible to offer child care as a DoD CDP.

Special NeedsSome children may require more than routine or basic care, such as children with or who are at-risk of disabilities, chronic illnesses or physical, developmental, behavioral, or emotional conditions. MilitaryChildCare.com assists families with children with special needs in their search for care through a process that includes an Inclusion Action Team (IAT) and Military Service specific IAT protocols.

The IAT process supports reasonable accommodation by considering the needs of the child, the child care environment, staffing and training requirements, and the resources of the program. Programs welcome the opportunity to discuss each family's needs throughout your search process.

More information is available by contacting the local program.

Off-Installation CareTo search for off-installation child care, please contact Military Child Care in Your Neighborhood (MCCYN), which provides fee assistance to eligible military families who are unable to access on-installation child care. Operated by Child Care Aware of America, MCCYN helps military families search for military-affiliated child care located off of installations in some locations. Select off-installation child care will be added to the MilitaryChildCare.com search in the near future.

For additional information about MCCYN’s child care options, please contact http://usa.childcareaware.org/
